First Annual Penny Awards-- Tift Theatre for the Performing Arts, Tifton GA

As some of you may know, I have loved, loved, LOVED the theatre ever since college. Unfortunately, for years I was away from the theatre scene between work, family, and life--just not enough time to do it all. Since retiring from the library though, and thanks to an awesome director of the Tift Theatre for Performing Arts, I was enticed back into theatre life--

I was fortunate enough to play Clairee in Steel Magnolias, help with 101 Dalmations Kids as a counsellor for the Summer Theatre Camp, had a small role in Little Shop of Horrors (voted as Favorite Show of the Year), and was asked to be stage manager for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. A lot of fun and a lot of work.

We had the first annual Penny Awards (so named, because the first movie shown in the Theatre was Pennies from Heaven) last night and was excited to receive this:

But the biggest surprise was still to come: I was blessed and honored to receive the first annual Dottie Freeman Service Award.

Thanks to everyone involved for a great 2014 season of Community Theatre with the Penny Players, Tift Theater, and director Robert Reid Goodson.
